11-pound Johnny Paul Daniels was the first infant born at Duke University Hospital on the first day of the year. Sunday at 11:12, Britney and Jesse Daniels welcomed their firstborn.

Stiles George McGee was the first infant born in 2023 at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center in Fayetteville. Sunday at 2:25 a.m., Tayvon McGee and Briana Esquilin welcomed their firstborn. Stiles was 7 pounds, 8 ounces and 20.5 inches long.

Hrishi was born at the UNC Health Rex Holly Springs Hospital on New Year’s Day. At 12:39 a.m., Priti and Ravi Verma, along with Hriday, 7, welcomed the fourth member of their family. Hrishi weighed 6.11 pounds and measured 20.75 inches in length.
