Liam Payne died this month after falling from the third-floor balcony of the CasaSur Palermo hotel in Buenos Aires, Argentina. He reportedly died of “loss of consciousness.”
An Argentinian journalist has made a shocking claim about the tragic incident involving Liam Payne, who allegedly fell from the third-floor balcony of the CasaSur hotel in Buenos Aires. The former One Direction star tragically passed away earlier this month while on holiday in Argentina, where he attended Niall Horan’s concert with his girlfriend Kate Cassidy.
Journalist Paula Varela claims that CCTV footage captured the moment Payne “passed out” on his balcony, suggesting that authorities are not releasing the video. On the popular TV show Socios del Espectaculo, which airs on Canal 13, Varela also mentioned that a night-shift hotel worker who had gotten close to Liam was being investigated, as part of efforts to determine the source of the drugs that may have played a role in his untimely death on October 16.
Varela said: “There is footage that is not released to the media with the balcony scene where you see Liam faint and, tragically, because of where he is, fall off that balcony. If he had been next to his bed, he would have fallen onto his bed.
“It’s not that he jumped deliberately. That footage is in the official file. There’s a boy under investigation who worked nights at the hotel. He had a great relationship with Liam. He disobeyed an order from the hotel management. What order did he disobey? It was not to bring anything into Liam’s room.”
She added: “Because of the good relationship he had with Liam, he requested a car through one of those taxi apps that we all use because Liam wanted something. He did that for him, a huge mistake because he’s under investigation, and they’re looking at what was transferred into that vehicle. That’s one of the things that investigators are looking at right now and obviously that hotel employee has been suspended. He’s a valued member of staff, a good worker, but he disobeyed an order that could have been fatal.”
Prosecutors said after Liam’s death that they believed he was “in a state of semi- or total unconsciousness” during a substance-induced “psychotic episode” when he fell, the Mirror reports.
Alberto Crescenti, head of the state’s emergency medical service, confirmed that the singer had fallen in an interior courtyard. Speaking to Argentine television channel Todo Noticias, Crescenti said: “A few minutes later, an emergency team arrived and confirmed the death of this man who, as we later learned, was part of a music group. He had injuries incompatible with life because of his fall. There was no way to do anything.”
The toxicology report suggests that the position in which his body was found, combined with the injuries caused by the fall, means that “it is presumed that Payne did not adopt a reflex posture to protect himself and may have fallen into a state of semi-unconsciousness or complete unconsciousness.”
