Benny Blanco Shares the Challenges Selena Gomez Faced in Her 2025 Oscars Gown

Benny Blanco believes women deserve a “medal of honor” after witnessing the challenges his fiancée, Selena Gomez, faced while getting ready for the 2025 Oscars. The 32-year-old actress and pop star dazzled on the red carpet in a custom Ralph Lauren gown, crafted by a team of 12 artisans, featuring over 16,000 glass drops.
On The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on March 20, Blanco revealed that the gown, weighing a whopping 35 lbs, was not easy to wear. “Getting her there was so hard,” he admitted. “She’s carrying a 35-lb. dress, and her heels are eight inches high. And then she has to stand on a bus while we’re moving because she can’t sit down.”

Blanco further joked that while Gomez had her glam team sewing her into the dress, he “looked like a slob” in comparison. Gomez attended the ceremony for the first time to promote her movie Emilia Pérez, which won two Oscars, including Best Original Song for “El Mal.”
The couple also shared details about their engagement, with Blanco revealing that Gomez almost didn’t make it to his surprise proposal. Despite the near miss, they appeared on the show to promote their new album I Said I Love You First, which releases on March 21.
