Inside Oscars Rehearsals: Andrew Garfield, Goldie Hawn, and Oprah Bring Fun, Flubbed Lines, and Star Power Ahead of 2025 Show

Sterling K. Brown is having a blast at the rehearsals for the 97th Academy Awards. With just one day to go until the Oscars, Brown, 48, and Ana de Armas are centerstage at Hollywood’s Dolby Theatre, prepping for their co-presentation of the Live Action Short category. Brown, dressed casually in shorts, sneakers, and a black hoodie, shares a light moment with de Armas, who received a Best Actress nomination for Blonde in 2023. After their successful first run-through, Brown exclaims, “Let’s do it!”
Meanwhile, Emma Stone, known for her self-deprecating humor, had a slightly bumpy start as she fumbled her lines during rehearsal. Laughing it off, she said, “Oh God, this is going to go great,” before continuing with the rehearsal.

The rehearsal brought out a dazzling lineup of stars, including Da’Vine Joy Randolph, Miles Teller, Whoopi Goldberg, Miley Cyrus, and Oprah Winfrey, who was joined by her close friend Gayle King in the front row. Most of the stars were dressed casually and makeup-free as they practiced their lines, dealt with pre-show nerves, and familiarized themselves with the vast Dolby Theatre space, mostly empty except for the busy production crew.
Stone, 36, flashed a big smile as she perfected her lines and handed an Oscar statuette to a stand-in winner. She waved at the crowd before heading offstage. Across the theater, Andrew Garfield, a two-time Oscar nominee, and Goldie Hawn, the 1970 Best Supporting Actress winner for Cactus Flower, were also in high spirits as they rehearsed for their co-presentation of the Animated Feature and Animated Short categories. They worked on their timing, laughed together, and even shared a few sweet moments, including linking arms and holding hands.
Hawn, 79, wearing a black pantsuit, briefly fumbled a line but recovered, saying, “Okay, here we go.” Garfield, 41, who was dressed casually with a sweater over his shoulders and an untucked button-down shirt, gave Hawn a comforting rub on the back before they nailed the run-through and shared an enthusiastic high-five.
This year’s Oscars are expected to be star-studded, with a list of presenters including Selena Gomez, Joe Alwyn, Lily-Rose Depp, Willem Dafoe, Connie Nielsen, Ben Stiller, Nick Offerman, Robert Downey Jr., and Cillian Murphy. In addition to these, the live performers for the evening will include Ariana Grande, Cynthia Erivo, Queen Latifah, Doja Cat, Lisa from BLACKPINK, and Raye.
The 97th Academy Awards will air live from the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood on Sunday, March 2, at 7 p.m. ET on ABC and Hulu.
