Jacksonville Jaguars head coach Doug Pederson and general manager Trent Baalke are reportedly on the hot seat.

NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport revealed on Saturday that it “would not be a surprise” inside the organization if the Jaguars decided to move on from Pederson and Baalke, as there is “a pall permeating the situation.”

A “dramatic move could come as soon as this week” following the result of Jacksonville’s matchup with the Detroit Lions in Week 11, per Rapoport.

The Jaguars sit in last place among AFC South teams with a 2-8 record and are currently in the midst of a three-game losing streak.

Rapoport noted that quarterbacks coach Mike McCoy could be an option as interim head coach if the team decides to part ways with Pederson.

In just under three seasons with the organization, Pederson owns a 20-24 record with the Jaguars. Following an impressive inaugural season in Jacksonville, the team has slowly declined under him.

The Jaguars went 9-8 during the 2022 season and made an appearance in the divisional round of the playoffs, seemingly building upon the strong year by starting their 2023 campaign with a record of 8-3 through 11 games.

Jacksonville ended up losing five of its final six regular-season contests to miss the playoffs and continued to struggle to begin the 2024 season.

Free agency missteps have also been partially responsible for the slow start, which could be a reason why Baalke’s future is reportedly in jeopardy.

The Jaguars handed defensive lineman Arik Armstead a three-year contract worth up to $51 million in March. In his first 10 games with the team, Armstead has recorded just one sack and four pressures.

Jacksonville will need to come out firing against Detroit, which could be a challenge as starting quarterback Trevor Lawrence will miss his second straight game due to a shoulder injury. Backup signal-caller Mac Jones is set to open Sunday’s contest against the Lions.

If the Jaguars lose their fourth consecutive game, major organizational changes could be coming.
