After Vice President Kamala Harris and former President Donald Trump made their final pitches the future of the country is now in the hands of voters as Election Day begins.
Millions of Americans are expected to vote today, with lines filling out as early as 5am ET in places where polls open that early, such as in Vermont. The last polls close at 1am ET in Alaska.
Its not clear yet what time the election will be called. Back in 2016 the results came in the hours shortly after Election Day, and in 2020 the pandemic made it so that the results weren’t in until the following Saturday. The timeline this go around depends on how close the race is. Polls in key swing states close from 7 to 10 p.m. EST.
