After losing Spencer at sea, Trina might be finding love again.
Trina Robinson, played by Tabyana Ali, was in a happy relationship last year with Spencer Cassadine. However, the couple dubbed “Sprina” were separated as Spencer was thrown overboard during a boat ride in Paris and declared legally dead.
In reality, Spencer’s actor, Nicholas Alexander Chavez, left the show to star in Netflix’s Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story where he played Lyle. This has fans hoping for Spencer’s dramatic return, but it seems that General Hosptial writers want Trina to find love elsewhere first.

According to Deadline, Jens Austin Astrup will be joining the hit soap opera in November. He’ll play Kai, a character who attends Port Charles University – where he’ll meet Trina and sparks will fly.
However, fans are unsure about how General Hospital writers will handle Trina’s new relationship. Many took to X, formally known as Twitter, to share their thoughts.
“Theyve had nearly 9 whole months to write for Trina and dropped the ball at every turn,” one fan wrote. “Ill try for cautious optimism because Id like nothing more than to see a young Black couple in love on a soap, but expectations are low. #GH.”
Another slammed the writers for not giving Trina time to grieve Spencer, a complaint viewers have had for a while. “Trina didn’t need a new man,” a fan commented. “We wanted her grief story told like others! We wanted her family seen and heard and #GH said no!”
A third fan thinks that this is a refreshing change to the show. “I love Sprina but I am happy with this casting change. Will be nice to see black young love on television,” they penned. “I still think Spencer can be alive but it would be more interesting if he shows up alive when Trina truly believe she’s moved on with a new man. Soap 101. #GH.”
Trina was given a small romance earlier this year between her and Gio Palmieri, played by Giovanni Mazza. The relationship was instantly slammed by fans claiming “he’ll never be Spencer.”
